the outside / the inside,

one is

guarded to defend,

the other

hidden to protect.

From the outside looking in,

camouflaged smile,

practiced handshake,

pleasantly interactive,

affable but aloof

woman;

from the inside looking out,

observing, detecting, data collecting, analyzing survivor.
